It's easy to slip through the cracks and become a sudden, heavy donor in American politics. You can also get CAUGHT at it, as the New York Times has shown. This is one reason why our free press is important. And before you judge Obama on this, consider this statement from the article:

“On the basis of the questions that have been raised, we will return the contributions from these individuals and from any other donors they brought to the campaign,” said Ben LaBolt, a spokesman for the Obama campaign.

I would call that pretty clear. You can bet there was an angry call from the President on this one, and some people are undoubtably in a world of hurt. Expect a personal statement soon from Obama on this one. I'm sure he's understandably pissed off.

And what about the half million dollars from John Corzine, who basically looted $1.2 billion dollars from 38,000 farmers and small businessmen.

He is one of Obama's biggest bundlers and he Obama has not given a penny of that back.

that's an ongoing case, he hasn't been found guilty of anything.

Oh, here's something else, Corzine didn't give Obama 500k, he co-hosted a fundraiser to raise that amount.

Corzine is a top Obama bundler who was on track to replace Timmy Geithner as Secretary of the Treasury.

The only reason he is not behind bars this minute is his ties to the White House. So, the lack of a conviction should not give you any solace. At this time 38,000 farmers and small traders in commodities have a lawsuit against him for his misdeeds, all $1.2 billion of them.

and when this hit, he was no longer considered.

"The only reason he is not behind bars this minute is his ties to the White House."

just speculation.

I find it amazing that you guys support OWS while defending Corzine.

Just shows the mental gymnastics of our liberal brethren.

He got caught so he gave the money back. If he wouldn't have gotten caught, he would have kept the money.

Mexican nationals who are crooks. I wonder if there is a tie to fast and furious? Maybe this is the reason that Obama was arming the drug gangs in Mexico. Payback for campaign contributions. That would certainly fit in with the "Chicago way" of conducting politics.
